Spring’s black-tie season kicked off with last night’s Met Gala honoring the late, absurdly talented Alexander McQueen. While none too many a fashion risk was taken, the event was still a sartorial feast for the eyes with winning couture choices, strong silhouettes, and stunning vintage pieces worn by the fashion set and Hollywood’s red carpet regulars. I LOVE FASHION AT THE CANNES FILM FESTIVAL

The cannes film festival is taking place this week and the fashion is mind blowing, everyone is wearing top designs that were showcased in fashion week this year. Designs from Elle Saab, Stephane Rolland, to Mcqueen designs.

The Cannes Film Festival officially got underway on Wednesday night and the red carpet at the opening ceremony was crawling with celebs.

Once again Salma Hayek is using the French festivities to show off Gucci's couture label Gucci Première gown. Wednesday's gown du jour was a silver beaded silk chiffon gown that oozed Hollywood glamor.

Poor Rachel McAdams looked like a bleeding jellyfish in her embroidered Marchesa gown. There's just too much going on between the cape and train, which she carried like a butler for most of the red carpet. Kinda defeats the purpose, no?

The big surprise, at least for us, was Uma Thurman. She wore a beautiful white Versace feathered gown with a sexy slit that cut right up the front of her dress. For a pop of color, Uma accessorized with lovely emerald chandelier earrings and a bracelet.

And then there was Melanie Griffith who underwhelmed in a Jason Wugown. Although we must say, she looks pretty good for being a 53 year old broad.

Her gown with tufts of tulle on the shoulders and flowing tulle train had a bedazzling embroidered details. This gown was made for a stage like this.

Her on-again, off-again bangs are back.

A gold Swarovski clutch and subtle Chopard jewels completed her look.

 

Uma Thurman 

She wore a Chanel Fall 2008 Couture gown.

Her gown with beaded embellishments also had a layered train and a satin sash which falls from the back.

Her champagne coloured sequined gown with a frothy mermaid hemline was teamed with a burgundy clutch.She opted to keep her vampy make-up which most of you objected two from her first look.

Clemence Poesy also attended the 2011 Cannes Film Festival “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” Premiere this evening.

Her off-the-shoulder dress is lightly embellished around the neckline and is accented with a jewel encrusted belt.

Suede teal peep-toes and a silver clutch completed her look.

46-year-old successful star wowed the crowd wearing a super beautiful and dramatic printed flowy long sleeve gown from Elie Saab Fall 2011 collection. Sarah Jessica Parker’s red carpet gown featured lace detailing at the sleeves and at the neckline.
